Continuation of new things...

After christmas came all the "terrible" weather. I added quotations because I honestly think it wasn't nearly as bad as if we lived up North. Although  at the time, I sure complained like I thought it was the worst weather in the world. Some days it reminded me of Ohio, because it would snow, and then it would be sunny the next day. But overall it was just REALLY REALLY REALLY cold. I don't recommend coming here in the winter, especially after Christmas, unless you have a good coat and boots. Although I can say when its not blowing as much, watching the snow fall on the frozen sea, or seeing the little Christmas village in the big square in the city, or even just walking around, is one of the most peaceful, and beautiful things I have ever done/seen.

When the weather started getting nicer again, in March two things happened. I both switched to a new swedish class, and joined another school. I switched to an evening Swedish for immigrants course because i needed to start at this new school. What this new school did for me was amazing! My swedish skills improved beyond belief. (Although everyone there was already super impressed with how fast i had already picked up the language.) after about a month of going to both schools i finally took my final Swedish for immigrants test. I found out two days after that i had passed! I was still continuing in the other course though. This course was through the employment office. Essentially i went to a course that is made to motivate you to study further. I am already planning on studying to become a teacher here anyways, so it was just a good way for me to practice my Swedish skills.

Every day i was in the course from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon. Some days were more frustrating than others. For the most part though, i was able to keep up. I really enjoyed my time in the course and made lots of new friends.

During the course we learned all different subjects from math to even english. It was a bit interesting because they focused on british english. While i can understand british english, they have different phrases and expressions that i couldnt translate, and when we talked about school the positions and systems are very different. It was fun for me to be able to share my opinions and my experiences from home during English time. Everyone here is very good at english, even if they are a bit shy to speak it around me. I was very impressed.

In april to big things happened in our lives, the first being Anton losing his job. This was not something we were expecting, but in his field unfortunately its not something uncommon. I really think he has handled it very well, and we have managed to live very well even without me having a job. (Although i have a job now,) We have managed to make ends meet and are not worried about the future. In august Anton is hopefully going back to school into a three year program on game developnment. Its a good field to go into at the moment because there are a lot of jobs for people who can make games and apps. I am really excited to see where our future takes us. It will be cool when i can finally study and we can talk to each other about school, and the new things we are learning.

The second thing that happened in April that was a big deal was...
We took in a foster dog! He is absolutely adorable. He came through the same organization that we got Moly through. Now it is time for me to share a picture of our cute house guest:

His name is Max. He is about the same size as Moly and they are now best friends. He loves chasing rabbits, which is a pain in our neighborhood, but he is overall a fantastic dog.

I swear that Malmö's rabbit population has all decided to move to our neighborhood. The dogs, anton and i all went on a 7km walk earlier this week and we saw 120+ rabbits in just one hour. I have never seen so many rabbits at once, nor do i enjoy seeing so many because both of our dogs go crazy!

After having Max here about a month, and lookibg for jobs everywhere, i can now say proudly that i am a working member of society! It may not be the best job in the world, but a job is a job is a job. Its something that i am proud of. I even got to do a good chunk of my interview in English.

I am coming along with my skills in the Swedish language, I have even had customers compliment me. Many people refuse to believe that I have only lived here for 9.5 months many people assume at least two years. I think that is because many people who have lived here longer than me can not speak as well as me. I absolutely love learning languages and for me it only made sense to dive head first into learning Swedish and work as hard as I can to become fluent so that I have a way to actually communicate with others. I hear all the time from Swedish people that Swedish is the hardest language in the world. I don't believe that, for me it was easier to learn than Spanish. There are less verb conjugations to memorize, and most of the words are pretty straight forward... Except for words that have the "stj" "sj" or "sk" combinations in them.

I feel really confident about how i am doing here. I am definitely a lot healthier, and happier. Tomorrow i have my first 10k race! I am pretty excited. My goal is to just finish. I am definitely not expecting to come in first. If i can finish before the finish line closes i will be very happy. If you had told me in january of 2012 when i first came here that i would be running in a 10k a year and a half later ,i would have laughed in your face. I am feeling really confident though, I am 100 times healthier than i was when i first got here a year and a half ago. I absolutely believe that i can finish this in good time, and that i WILL finish this in good time. I am going to make sure to have Anton take as many pictures as he can... Although i can't promise too many since he is bringing the dogs to greet me at the finish line. I am so excited about all the good things i have going for me in my life.

I promise this time that i will try to be more regular in my blog posting. I have even asked Anton to keep me accountable so that way I will be reminded to update more. I really am happy about all the opportunities i have in my life now. I won't be giving this up anytime soon, so you don't have to worry about a lack of adventures. I am sure there will be plenty more really soon.

Thank you all again for being so patient waiting for my updates. If you come up with any questions that you want answered in future blog posts do not hesitate to leave me a comment. I look at all my comments, and would be glad to center some of my posts on things that, you, my readers would like to know!
