End of week 1

So I feel as though I should post about week one as a whole since my last post was a bit of joke, in the way that it told you nothing interesting, and didn't have any pictures. That is what I am going to do now! I'm going to take the time to sum up the week!

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, were alright, except for the incidents that happened with people not speaking English. Although I had an adventure on Wednesday trying to get somewhere in the city. I got lost, and scared. I think I am starting to get better at finding my way around now, especially during the day! I can find my way to the "big road" otherwise known as Regementsgatan. I can find my way to the store, and to a few other places, including my school, using just that road. I feel that its worth mentioning that Wednesday night, we also went out to dinner at a Thai place. There are quite a few Asian restaurants around town. A lot of those places are Thai, or Indian. Its interesting to me, because I was not expecting that. Although I guess I could not have expected it; It's kind of a random thing.

Thursday we had an adventure, because we had arranged to go pick up a television, from a couple on the site couchsurfers.com, who were giving it away. We were supposed to go get it on Wednesday night, but it was raining, and carrying a television home in the rain is not that great of an idea. So Thursday we went, now there was some issues with communication, and we did not actually wind up getting it on Thursday. We did however go to a new part of town, had fun exploring, went to a store and managed to buy 5 movies for 200 kr, which in american dollars is about 6 bucks a movie! It was a good night, even if it was not what we had planned.

Friday we went to the store to get some more groceries, and after that, actually wound up getting Subway. Yes, like the American Subway. It was delicious. The bread we got was different  from the bread Subways' have back home. I have a picture of a sandwich, that wasn't ours. I had to look up a sandwich that had that kind of bread! I forgot to take a picture of our sandwich!
This was the type of bread we had. It is called fullkorn bread. Its really really delicious.
After we ate, we just kind of sat around for the rest of the night, watching television shows online. Although we did have some ice cream later in the night. I need some of this ice cream back home. It is the most delicious ice cream on the face of the planet.

Its ice cream, with marscapone cheese, and berries, and pistachios. Its DELICIOUS.

On to Saturday! We really did nothing on Saturday. Anton got me hooked on a game though! Its called Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. Its like Mario Kart, but on the computer, with Sonic. Its a lot of fun!

This is the cover for the game.

Sunday (yesterday) was a great day! We played some Sonic in the morning, went for a walk to find my school in the afternoon, picked up the tv in the evening, and then went to T.G.I Fridays for dinner. Yup. They have one of those here too! Its wonderful. I am just going to upload pictures from the day in the order that they occurred. It was a lot of fun! Now I don't have to worry about how to find my school, it really is, just a mile and a half down the big road. and not too far from there, is the library! I plan on walking there later today! I have class tonight, I am kind of nervous for that, but I am sure that it will be great! I will probably post an update about class when I get home. But now here are the pictures from our walk!

Turning torso, you can see it from the house! I think its amazing!

Well this picture is not as effective as I would like, but the ocean is right there.

There was a lot of graffiti. It surprised me.

Round about sign!

The mobile library stops there!

Someones car is laughing.

this is at the roundabout, its a convenience store

This is a statue in the square across from my school.

a fountain that was not running.

You are nice... backwards.... that whole area was blocked off.

another gorgeous fountain.

Presents in a tree. Anton says they lit them up at Christmas time. He was disappointed that they did not light up anymore.

This is the same weekend as the culture festival in Växjö. I would rather go to the culture festival. Comedy would be useless on me unless it was in English. Which I doubt it is.

On top of one of the statues.  I am beginning to see that these are all out of order. oh well. On this statue was also two poems in Swedish. I will post them, when I figure out the order that the pictures were supposed to be in..

It is a bit hard to tell, but this fountain is filled with fire!

apparently according to the way that pictures were uploaded desert was first.  It was delicious. It was three mini pudding cups. The one had oreo and mint chocolate pudding  the other had snickers and plain chocolate pudding, and the last one, had strawberry cheesecake pudding.

bacon cheese burger, fries and ranch! Yum!

This is a glass of Zingos. Its Swedens' version orange soda. Although I think its orange pineapple.

Mozzarella sticks

Our wet-naps!

The outside of the building.

The menu!

Back of the menu!

The waiters and waitresses, actually had all the buttons and pins, and it just made me happy.
So that is pretty much my first week in the city. This week should be a lot more interesting, I start school tonight, and will be out adventuring the city a bit later in the day. I should have more pictures, and should be able to report more interesting stories.

I just discovered your blog and your adventure. I've read all 16 posts and am looking forward to the future stories. It is okay to post the little 'non-important' things - if they make you smile, they are important. Or, in the case of your laundry adventure, make you cry. It is all part of the learning and discovering. And I'm glad you are taking advantage of the full 90 days allowed!!!
